In Announcements, Committees

As most of you certainly know by now, Judy DeIasi will shortly retire from a remarkable career in human services. Judy was among the first to help people living in Willowbrook leave the institution and find homes in the community. She played a significant role in State government during the breakneck development of group home beds in the late 70’s and 80’s. She then moved on to become the Associate Executive Director of AHRC of NYC, one of the most respected organizations in New York.

And, of course, she led the Manhattan DD Council, as Chair and Vice Chair for more years than she probably cares to remember.

We are all extremely fortunate to have benefitted from Judy’s wisdom, compassion and perseverance. Depending on who you are she has likely helped you become a better parent, self-advocate or provider.

Please join me in wishing Judy health, happiness and at least a little adventure in her retirement.

Judy, we’ll miss you.

Marco
