Over 200 people showed up to the Rally outside the Gov’s office on 3rd Ave today!!! We’re not afraid of a little snow when it comes to protecting our services!!!
On Monday, 3/11/13 we will know if our full restoration is in both the Assembly’s and the Senate’s one house bills…………..
Here is what is happening and what we are asking people to do as of today, 3/8/13:
1. Call Senate Coalition Leaders: even though we are making progress we are asking that between now and Monday afternoon you call the Senate Coalition Leaders Dean Skelos and Jeff Klein and urge them to support a full restoration of our cut. Go to www.iacny.org, click on “take action now” then press the big red button and follow the call alert instructions.
2. Send letters to the Governor: even though we are making progress we are asking that between now and Monday afternoon you call the Senate Coalition Leaders Dean Skelos and Jeff Klein and urge them to support a full restoration of our cut. Go to www.iacny.org, click on “take action now” then press the big red button and follow the call alert instructions.
3. We are ON for another rally in front of the Governor’s office on 3/15/13:
AFTER Manhattan’s Legislative Breakfast!
We’ll be at 633 3rd avenue between 40th & 41st street at 11am. Make signs urging the Governor to support our full restoration making sure he knows that we’ve been cut already and additional cuts will reduce staff and services. Between now and then there will be updates as the situation changes. No sticks on signs, rally will last about 1 hour. Please tell me if you intend to participate and the approximate size of your group.
4. New Yorkers with Disabilities Need You!!!:
We are continuing our visits to the Capitol with Legislators between Monday 3/11/13 and 3/22/13. Mon, Tues and Wed. are best for downstate travelers but Thursday if you can arrive by 10am is also fine. As of now there are no Fridays in Albany. Please tell me if you intend to visit, give me the name and # of a contact person who will accompany the group, and then first name and address of every person who will be there IN ADVANCE of your visit. For GPS the address of the LOB is 198 State Street which is across the street from the Capitol Building. There is meter parking on Washington Ave. on the other side of the park. 2 hour parking for 25cents/10 minutes. BRING QUARTERS. Bring food for anyone with dietary restrictions, otherwise there is a cafeteria in the Capitol and lunch will cost approximately $10 per person. We’d like lots of people to come on Monday 3/11/13. There will be weekly updates as the situation changes.
Till the next notice…….
