IAC ACTION ALERT!!! THE DSP INCREASE IS IN DANGER IN THE SENATE AND THE GOVERNOR’S OFFICE…CALL CALL CALL CALL CALL
Even if you already called, call again this morning!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Starting at 9am today we have to get as many calls as possible to the Governor’s office and every Senator telling them that our underpaid DSP’s have been neglected for years and need an increase in this budget.
Tell them that supporting the people who support the most vulnerable New Yorkers should be our HIGHEST PRIORITY!!! Last year your advocacy accomplished a VIRTUAL MIRACLE! WE NEED YOU TO DO IT AGAIN!!! The DSP increase will be the discussion in conference later today. This is the last chance we have for making sure that we have many voices in support – so many that they HAVE to do something.
If we don’t act
NOW
it will be too late!
Send this message to your staff, families and groups!
We are getting attention on all our issues but even with the best of intentions, during negotiations not all important things will end up in the final version of the budget.
Direct Support Professionals have not had an increase in 4 years!
YOU need to call and send a letter to the Governor, the leaders in each house (Senate: Stewart-Cousins, Klein & Skelos and Assembly: Kolb & Silver) and your Senator and Assemblymember and tell each of them that an increase for DSP’s is essential to maintaining services. You can get talking points from the letter on IAC’s website for your use.
As a constituent you are very important to your elected officials and you must tell them what is important to you NOW.
Call AND send letters to the Governor, your Senator and Assemblymember, and the Legislative Leaders.
* Go to www.iacny.org<http://www.iacny.org> and click on “Legislative Action” on the top, right side of the screen.
* Then, click on the circle that says “Get involved”.
* After that, click on “Take Action” for the appropriate issue (853’s, Early Intervention or Direct Support Professionals) (feel free to send letters and make calls on all 3!)
* Fill in your information and either send emails or paper letters to your elected officials.
* Their phone numbers IN ALBANY will also be available there.
If you have any questions, please email or call.
Thanks so much for your assistance in this very important and urgent matter!
