Ming Yuan Lou of Nordoff Robbins Center for Music Therapy
212.998.5151 www.nordoff.robbins@nyc.edu
- The Nordoff-Robbins approach to music therapy is based on the belief that everyone possesses a sensitivity to music that can be utilized for personal growth and development. In this form of treatment, individuals take an active role in creating music together with their therapists. At Nordoff-Robbins, they make music with people, not for them. Their approach is based on techniques that allow even the most disabled individuals to become active and successful participants. Through this interaction therapists support and enhance the individuals’ expressive skills and their ability to relate to others.
