No December Meeting!!

No new RFP’s for Family Support Services.

Choices- paperless OPWDD coming (expect training announcements, as there is a possibility that this program will be mandated in June)

2. Margaret Puddington – Manhattan Family Advisory Council
Upcoming public hearings on waiver 1115 located at 75 Morton Street.

3. Jennifer Shaoul – YAI
Parent Trainings available (refer to flyer)
Psych evaluation turnover is quicker, can do adaptive but it’s a special referral
New Magazine – Big Apple Special Parent (available quarterly)

Registration and greeting is handled.

At the November 10th DD Council meeting, we will be soliciting volunteers to answer attendees questions.

We have tee shirts, candy, magazines and a key chain

*For future resource fair donations, donors will not give anything without a letter at least 3-6 months in advance!

Food is being handled by the Transition Committee

PRESENTATION

Music for Autism – Eileen Schneyman

Music Training-

Makes sure space is safe and autism friendly
Predictable and consistent format (no clapping allowed at concerts)

Volunteers are there to help and interested with guests

Keep language simple and to a minimum; repetitive if appropriate

Silent clapping/ sign for applause

Timing is important- shorter pieces

Entire concert is 1 hour

Social story to review with child is given before concert because it shows order and why family is going. Fully subsidized! Other DD children can go as well
