2. Camp Oakhurst has availability in their Out-of-Home Overnight Respite program in New Jersey. They now have weekend respite available for children on the autism spectrum. The goal is to help families who are caring for a physically disabled relative in their own home by giving family care givers timely breaks from their daily custodial responsibility. -A Socialization Skills Group – A 10 week Program for pre-teens and teens on the Autism Spectrum. For Manhattan families only; ages 9-18. Start date is September 16 – November 18, 2010. The weekly meetings are held on Thursdays, 4:30 – 6:00pm. Transportation will be reimbursed and a healthy snack will be provided.
-Crisis Intervention in Manhattan is accepting short term case management referrals. For more information call 212-273-6200.

8. Hawthorne Foundation offers to eligible families in-home parent education on managing you child’s challenging behaviors for up to 35 hours for the school year. This program benefits your family in resolving behavioral issues at home and in your community. The program provides each family with Behavioral Assessment; Behavioral Planning; Training for Family Members; Initial Implementation of Behavioral Plan; Follow up Visits and Phone Conferences. DISCUSSION: We discussed feedback from families on the new MSC procedures and how families are adjusting to the new structure. We also discussed the liability for services regulations, the Family Support hearings held recently in Albany and the new Family Support Quarterly reports required by OPWDD.

The Fair: December 2, 2010, Church of St. Paul the Apostle / 10am-2pm
We anticipate a large number of vendors and might have to turn vendors away at the last minute. We will order 45, 8ft rectangular tables for the Fair.
The balloons and signage has been ordered.
We will have a table to let parents view the DD Council website.

We are all responsible for publicity. A press release will go out this week. District 75 has circulated the fliers to families.
