An Overview of the CQL’s Personal Outcome Measures
A tool for improvement of the quality and consistency in services
Presented by Lore Barcelona from Sinergia, Inc.
- What is CQL? The Council on Quality & Leadership is a non-profit organization dedicated to the measurement and improvement of personal quality of life.
- CQL assists organizations to help people discover and define their own quality of life, measure personal quality of life for individuals, organizations and systems and improve the quality of life for people with disabilities, people with mental illness and the people, organizations and communities that support them.
- It involves person centered planning, personal account measures, and the need to work from the person’s point of view.
- There are 21 questions, but they must be molded to the person’s capability or situation.
- Personal Outcome measures focuses on the person, actions are based on person’s criteria, and the program is designed for the person.
- Personal Outcome is different in that there are meetings and conversations with people served, interaction with the person in different environments, visits with family, friends, and staff.
- The outcome for the person is increasing the quality of life.
- Outcomes require listening, observing, asking, discovering, and almost everything, but telling.
The next meeting will take place on Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at 2082 Lexington Avenue, 4th Floor. The topic for the presentation is currently being worked on.
