The program facilitates:
One-To-One friendships
BestBuddies operates out of Middle Schools, High Schools and Colleges and creates an inclusive school environment for students with IDD. eBuddies -offers an email program in which a participant with IDD communicates online with a friend without IDD. Best Buddies Citizens- helps adults with and without IDD develop meaningful friendships and become more involved in their local communities.
Integrated Employment
Assist with securing jobs for people with IDD, allowing them to earn an income, pay taxes and continuously and independently support themselves.
Leadership Development
Educates and empowers people with and without IDD to become leaders, public speakers and advocates.

Gave an overview of Housing Assistance Services which included help with navigating New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA), applying to Housing Lotteries, Advocacy, Legal Aid Services, and Home Modifications.

Terri Manzione- The Center for Discovery
The Center for Discovery has begun its Assessment, Support, Education and Training (ASSET) Program funded by OPWDD’s BIP Grant and serving children ages 5-18 with DD, primarily Autism. ASSET is a cost free, multi-disciplinary, multi-environment assessment and evaluation followed in home and in school, training and education for family members and school personnel addressing challenging behaviors, environmental design with emotional and energy regulators. ASSET will also capture bio-behavioral data through video and smart phone annotation. The goal is to determine which factors in the child’s environment contributes to the problematic behavior and which interventions are the most effective.
