- The next Manhattan FSS Advisory Council meeting is January 18 from 10 am – 12 pm at 333 7th avenue, 9th The speaker will be Connie Senior from YAI. She will speak on Sexuality Issues Affecting People with DD.
- The Manhattan Legislative Breakfast will take place on March 3 from 8 am – 10 am at the Barnes & Noble at Union Square.

- Parent Support Group open to Manhattan Parents and caregivers of a person with a developmental disability in English only.
- Transition to Independence is a group for young adults on the autism spectrum who reside in Manhattan.

- New Alternatives for Children are having a ribbon cutting ceremony for the opening of their new health center at 37 W. 26th Street on January 26, 2017. There will be tours.

The Manhattan Family & Professional Resource Fair
- Some attendees complained about the location of the venue.
- Wendy brought up the fact that classrooms are hard to come by when looking for a venue. Schools are not willing to give up their classrooms.
- If you are interested in a venue, take into consideration a central location, the restrooms must be accessible, the event is for 500 people, 3 breakout rooms are needed that can hold a minimum of 60 people. The price range is $10,000-$12,000.
- Two committee members will contact BMCC and Boricua College as a possible venue.
- There was an increase in family member’s attendance.
- The number of surveys increased from the previous year.
- Translation was a big issue. There was no translation in the vendor section. There should be signs that indicates the language spoken especially Cantonese and Mandarin.
- The tables should have numbers on a stand.
- Overall the feedback on individual workshops was positive.
- The Spanish workshop attendance was low, but the comments were good.
- The evaluations should not be put into folders. The volunteers should have them.
The next meeting will take place on Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at 2082 Lexington Avenue, 4th Floor. The topic for the presentation is currently being worked on.
