Graduates:
It appears as though most graduates have been placed or are in the process of being placed.
All graduates need to go through the Front Door. It’s important to remember that after one goes through the Front Door Session, one must go through the next phase-the Assessment Phase- in order in order to fully complete the process.
Some families have misunderstood that once they attend the information session, they have completed the process.
Discussion was held for topics of interest for next year’s meetings. Suggested recommendations included Self-direction service options and housing. It was also raised that OPWDD has recently restructured the Residential Vacancy management process which is not known as Certified Residential Opportunity Process:
The need for Residential Services is identified through the DDRO and a full referral packet is needed. There are different priority levels and each level has its own criteria
- Priority One: Is for those individuals with the most urgent needs such as those who are homeless, those who need nursing homes, and those that impose imminent danger to themselves or others. This level is also inclusive of those coming out of Developmental Centers as well as those coming out of Residential Schools.
Priority Two: Is for those individuals with less urgent needs
Priority Three: Is for those individuals in which their current living arrangement does not pose an emergency or urgent need.
