Dear OPWDD Stakeholder:
I am pleased to inform you that today OPWDD called for letters of intent from organizations that are interested in delivering specialized developmental disabilities services through a managed care delivery system. We ask that letters of intent be submitted by May 3, 2013. The letters of intent solicitation is available at www.opwdd.ny.gov/opwdd_services_supports/people_first_waiver/Becoming_a_DISCO.
This solicitation will assist OPWDD as we prepare to initiate the transition from the current fee-for-service system to a system of integrated, managed care. OPWDD is seeking letters of intent to better plan for this transition.
In addition, to support interested parties, OPWDD has posted Medicaid service data on its People First Waiver webpage (www.opwdd.ny.gov/opwdd_services_supports/people_first_waiver/news/Medicaid_Service_Data). The posted databook contains data on Medicaid services provided to individuals with developmental disabilities in each region of New York State. In May, OPWDD will hold a statewide videoconference to review the data with interested parties and explain its use.
These activities mark the first steps in the implementation of system reforms we have been working on together for the past two years. OPWDD will continue to keep you informed at every step, and provide opportunities for your continued input and guidance.
Thank you for your dedication to this important effort on behalf of individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.
Sincerely,
Courtney Burke
Commissioner
