Dear Friends and Colleagues:
OPWDD is getting a new website: www.opwdd.ny.gov. It will go live later today and throughout the weekend.
Since last fall, we have been redesigning our website with two goals in mind:
- 1. To have a site that is user friendly and easier for visitors to navigate and find the information they need; and
- 2. To have a site that is more interactive and that empowers visitors to engage in a way our previous technology did not allow.
A significant part of our redesign process has been ensuring that all material online is current, and that any documents that are outdated or contradictory are removed. The new technology also allows for better content management on our part, meaning the website will be much easier to keep up to date.
Please be aware that direct links to documents previously posted will likely change. However, the clearer layout of the site, along with its search function, should help you quickly find anything you’re looking for. If you have any issues, please email webmaster@opwdd.ny.gov for assistance. Additionally, we will be having what we’re calling a “clean up” period of documents and other materials on the website over the next several weeks.
The new site will not only make information more transparent and easier to locate, but will also complement the many other reforms we are implementing to strengthen our system.
Sincerely,
Commissioner Burke
P.S. Communication is critical to our collective success, and OPWDD’s Facebook page is a great place for individuals, family members, employees, advocates, and other stakeholders to exchange thoughts and ideas. Please feel free to join the conversation.
