Adult Day Services Directory::
The directory is going to be updated and will not be in its usual format so that the directory will be more comprehensive for families
Some items that will now be included in the directory that have not been are: Size of program, ratio of staff to consumers, and hours of operation
Questions about Pre – Employment Programs:
Pre Vocational Programs are different from Work Readiness
Pre Voc programs serve people with more severe needs than work readiness
In addition, Pre Vocational Programs are OPWDD Funded and Work Readiness is funded via a City Contract
Both Pre Vocational & Work Readiness Programs can lead to Supportive Employment
Supportive Employment is funded through ACCESS VR and one needs to start working right away. If one is in Supportive Employment one must be travel trained. In other words, travel training is a requirement for Supportive Employment
Invites to Programs:
It was suggested that Invitations to programs such as open houses or tours should state the following:
Name and Address of Program
Services that the program offers
This will assist schools & families in identifying prospective students to attend.
People First Waiver:
AKA: 1115 Waiver
This is the new name for OPWDD’s proposed Waiver, it will definitely change the way services are provided. Right now there are more questions than answers and for this reason a guest speaker will not immediately speak on this. We will be carefully monitoring how this develops and will see a Guest Speaker at a later time.
