I am pleased to announce that effective today, Roger Bearden will be serving in the role of Acting Executive Deputy Commissioner for the Office for People With Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD).
Roger has nearly twenty years of experience representing, advocating, and providing oversight for the services and rights of people with disabilities. He has spent the past seven years working for New York State in various roles, most notably contributing to the development of New York’s Olmstead Plan. In his most recent position as Deputy Commissioner and General Counsel at OPWDD, Roger has demonstrated his deep commitment to our agency’s mission and ensuring the best service system for the people that we support and their families.
