ISS (Individuals Support Services) Housing Subsidy presentation by Linda Schellenberg from The Center for Family Support : iss-presentation-and-docs-nov-8-2016
- ISS is available through OPWDD and it is based on the individual’s income.
- There is a maximum amount that can be requested.
- This permanent housing subsidy helps with paying rent, mortgage or maintenance.
- The subsidy can include utilities and you can request security deposit.
- Funds are provided on a monthly basis through a provider agency.
- The person has to be on the lease.
- It is available for individuals over the age of 18 and are living alone or with others.
- ISS is not considered income by Social Security or HRA.
- The MSC needs to start the front door process and request ISS.
- Once approved, the MSC needs to find a provider agency that will oversee the ISS subsidy.
- A written profile of need, budget application, and a lease are required documents for funding.
- ISS provides a Start-Up Stipend of up to $3,000 to purchase household items and furniture.
- The non-profit agency can provide supports and services to help the individual live independently.
- There is a quarterly check list with ISS to ensure basic safety that is provided by OPWDD.
- The rent is sent the 1st business day of the month.
